Steffen Welsch, Director of Steffen Welsch Architects, is an award-winning Melbourne architect and a pioneer of hemp construction in Australia. His acclaimed “Hemp House” in Northcote (2012) demonstrated that bio-based materials can create healthy, resilient and beautiful buildings. Trained at the former Bauhaus and shaped by work across Europe and Australia, Steffen brings a global and deeply human approach to sustainable design. As co-founder of Australian Architects Declare, he leads efforts for climate action and biodiversity in the built environment—showing how architecture, community and nature can work together to build a regenerative future.

His mission is to create sustainable, environmentally friendly - healthy homes around the world. HempBLOCK International provides a walling system and a seamless, fast, and straightforward building process, from initial design through to final construction.
